AUSTRALIAN supercrosser Chad Reed is unstoppable in his charge to take this year's American Motorcycle Association Supercross Series, riding into the history books along the way.

Last weekend Reed, 25, became the first AMA Supercross rider to win all five Californian races in a season after his win at San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium, even though the win probably should not have been his.

Reed made a good start in the Main, pulling into second spot behind Davi Millsaps for the first two laps of the 20-lap race before moving into the lead on lap three.

Twelve laps into the final it all came undone, Reed coming off his bike in the first corner. With the bike still running Reed restarted in second spot and set about hunting down race leader Millsaps, finally reclaiming the lead on lap 16 and pulling away to take the chequered flag, his fifth round win from the six held so far this season and his fifth at Qualcomm, matching AMA Supercross ace and Reed's boyhood hero Jeremy McGrath for San Diego race wins.

After the race an elated Reed said: "With this win tonight I have accomplished a new goal and get to leave the West Coast with a big points lead."
